A year ago he got down on bended knee.

A year ago today, Aaron got down on bended knee and proposed. It's hard to believe it's been that long but so very much has happened since. I married my best friend, graduated from BYU, and am living life as a happily married woman. A lot of other significant things have happened between then and now but what's important is that Aaron and I are living each day to its fullest and loving every minute of our journey together. Marriage has been a growing process and I have learned a lot about myself and a lot about the power of love. I am lucky to be married to a man who is considerate, loving, and who builds me up. He makes me feel like I can conquer the world and for that I am truly grateful.

A little about the proposal: Aaron took me up to Hobble Creek Canyon and planned a little cook out for the two of us. He brought peach cobbler to be made in a dutch oven he bought for us and hot-dogs for roasting. We set up camp and after exploring the area started cooking dinner. It began to rain, so we began putting a tarp up to keep us dry. I didn't realize what was going on but Aaron had gotten down on bended knee and in the mud and rain began to ask me to marry him. He pulled out a ring from a little wooden box and placed it on my finger. I of course said "Yes!" The rest is history. The sun came out minutes later and we found a field of wild flowers to take pictures. It was a perfect day.

I think our engagement day is metaphorical to our life together. Some days we're caught in a rain storm but because we continually express our love & appreciation for each other, WORK at our relationship, and invite our Heavenly Father's influence into our lives, the sun always comes out brighter than before.
